SEO – optimizing a website for Google

If you want to be succesful you need to rank high in search engines like Google, Yahoo or Bing.
They all use a “formula” to determine keyword relevancy. This formula consists of your page title, overall body content and the number and quality of links pointing back to your site, how long people stay on your site, etc.

  • Add a browser title and a description of your website in your website settings. Use relevant keywords under which you would like to be found. You should also link your site to Google Ananlytics to be able to use webmaster tools.
  • Images are great for the appearance of your site but don't forget the – they texts are important for your search results! An "About" page that tells something about you and your expertise is a great way to use relevant keywords on your website. Captions for images are an additional option.

  • The number of links to your site is very important. Google uses this information during the process of concluding which pages are more important than others. If you want to improve your listing, get other people to link to your site. Obvious suggestions include fans of your work, industry organizations and other directories you belong to, your close vendors or studios.

You need a bit of patience: It can take a few weeks or even months before your site will be listed.
